Thursday 25th September - walks **** – Felixstowe and Nacton – sunny and breezy.

Walk 1 – Sunrise prom.

I decided to join Mag on her daily sunrise stroll along Felixstowe prom, leaving home at 6.30 and the fresh NE wind had not arrived, there was a light offshore breeze which made it feel quite pleasant, quiet too, a few dog walkers and some open water dippers! There was a bank of cloud out to sea so no sunrise and I didn’t take many pics as we reached our turning point, the round seat just past The Fludyers. The sun then made an late appearance as we headed back up through the Spa gardens and home for breakfast in bed! The wind then suddenly increased from 10 knots NNE to 20 knots plus ENE but I will probably give windsurfing a miss today as the tides are not good for Felixstowe and I have already been to Wrabness, a 50 mile round trip, twice this week! 2.24 miles walked

Walk 2 – Down to the Alex for a coffee

We had arranged to meet up with Mags brother and wife for a catch up chat over a cuppa at the Alex along Felixstowe seafront as we haven’t seen them for several years:( We walked down the hill in lovely sunshine with a brilliant sea with rolling waves, with the wind a little fresh we decided to sit indoors and had two hours talking mainly about our boys, each couple has two each and several Grandchildren, it was great to catch up. We walked back up Bent Hill, said our goodbyes and headed for home, I definitely didn’t fancy another drive so I suggested I pack a picnic to make the most of the sunshine by driving over to Orwell Country Park for a picnic by the Orwell! . 1.62 miles walked.

Walk 3 – Orwell Country Park including a picnic by the Orwell. 2.42 miles walked.

Picnic packed, windsurf kit unloaded from our van we set off to Ipswich parking up around one and we set off down to the River Orwell through the lovely woods. The tide was fairly high and with the wind offshore it was very pleasant as we walked towards the Orwell Bridge to our usual picnic spot opposite Stoke Sailing club with super view across the water, just lovely, we just living in Suffolk:) We were hungry by this point and enjoyed lunch, I sure make a mean picnic! We were just saying that it was nice to see the Orwell Bridge running freely when suddenly there was an east bound tail back, later learned it was a broken down lorry, we should have keep our thoughts to ourselves:) We were quite pleased to get back to the van as we have walked over 6 miles today and all with a dodgy heel still!
I then whizzed down to Felixstowe Ferry to catch the sunset and was surprised to see 7 kitesurfers still out and I thought kite surfing was dying!
